Frustrated Leavitt will see South Florida in court

Maybe his house isn’t fetching as much as he’d hoped, or he finally realized he won’t be getting his old job back. Maybe fellow malcontent Mike Leach’s legal crusade against his former employers at Texas Tech just looks like so much fun. Whatever the reason, recently fired South Florida coach Jim Leavitt will be pleading his case in court over his controversial exit very soon:

Leavitt, who filed the lawsuit in Hillsborough County Circuit Court, is seeking restitution for what his attorneys claim is a “breach of written contractual promises made to Coach Leavitt in March 2008, as well as for accountability by USF for refusal to comply with the Florida Public Records laws.”

In a statement released Monday by Wil Florin, Leavitt’s attorney, the suit claims that USF “illegally fired Coach Leavitt through a termination process ignited by hearsay allegations.
