What up, what up everybody? Hope you guys out there got to watch us on national television the last two nights. We beat San Antonio on ESPN on Wednesday and won in Miami on Thursday on TNT.
Any player who ever tells you he doesn’t know he’s playing on national TV is lying. Guys always step it up when ESPN, TNT and ABC are around because nobody wants to be embarrassed on national TV.
We got San Antonio pretty good at home when they were on a back-to-back and then we turned around and had to play Miami on Thursday when we were the ones playing on the second night. We had a big lead in the fourth quarter, but went cold and let Miami get back in the game. We were able to hit enough shots and get enough stops to beat Miami in overtime.
You just can’t ever sleep on the Heat because they got D-Wade and he’s able to go off at any point in the game. It was really good for us to beat them because they had gotten us twice during the regular season and we might play them in the playoffs. If that’s the case, I’m fine with that because it’s a short flight from Orlando, I like shooting in Miami’s gym. When we play our game, we feel like we can beat any team in the league.
A lot was made of me kind of slacking off a little bit last week and missing shots. The truth is I wasn’t getting very many shots and the ones that I did get I missed them. But that’s just the way it’s going to work in our offense because we have so many weapons. I know Dwight and Vince are our top two options. If they need me to get 20 I can do that, kind of like Friday night in Miami when I think I scored 24.
I just have to make sure I keep myself aggressive offensively. I don’t get a lot of plays called for myself, so I have to be in attack mode when I get the ball and try to make something happen. And I’m trying to mix things up a little better and not just take threes. Because guys are running so hard at me I can use my pump fake more to get to the rim and get to the free throw line.
Because we won in Miami, we’ve got Friday and Saturday off from practice. We might go a whole season sometimes and not get two days in a row off, so I’m going to enjoy this. I’m going to get my feet up and play with my little girl. We have our gala with the fans on Saturday night and that’s always fun. Then, we’re back on the practice floor on Sunday and play in Philly (Monday) and Atlanta (Wednesday), so I’m going to enjoy these two days off.
I feel like we’ve earned our time off. We’ve been playing well and starting to really mesh at the right time before the playoffs. It’s all about getting that championship this year and I think we’re better prepared for it this year because we have a stronger bench and we have some guys on the wing in Matt Barnes and Mickael Pietrus who have a lockdown mentality.
Well, I’m gonna get out of here and enjoy my day off. You guys take care and keep the faith in the Magic!
