Derrick Ward’s response to his being cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers seemed a lot more professional than his behavior when he was with the club.
Here is his e-mail response to the St. Petersburg Times:
“My experience with the Bucs was a great one. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Rah (Raheem Morris) and Mark (Dominik) and I hope this season goes well for them. Although it’s tough to think that I’m not a Buc any more, I’m excited to see what else is out there for me. I still believe in my abilities and am looking forward to the next chapter of my football career.”
Good for him, but the Times reporters seemed to think there was some “bad blood” in the organization for how Ward handled himself in 2009 and this preseason. The club might not have wanted a bad influence around their younger players, not to mention an out of shape player who did not add much of anything.
