• And heeerrre coooome the lawyers. Inevitably, Bryce Brown’s father has threatened to sue Tennessee after the university denied an appeal to release his son from his UT scholarship. That means Brown has to pay his way for the next year at Kansas State, where he enrolled last month with an eye toward playing alongside his brother in 2011. Arthur Brown Sr. called Tennessee’s decision “bogus” and plans to hire an attorney to explore a long-shot suit against UT to recoup some of those tuition checks. [Knoxville News-Sentinel]
• Movin’ on up. Boise State’s comeback win over Virginia Tech Monday night earned the Broncos a little love in both polls, drawing them within 13 points of Ohio State (with a handful of first-place votes) for the No. 2 spot in the Associated Press poll and leaping Texas and Florida to land at No. 3. in the Coaches’ poll, as well, after debuting at No. 5. • Another brick in the wall. John Blake, forced out as North Carolina defensive line coach over the weekend in the wake of NCAA and media inquiries into his relationship with NFL agent Gary Winchard, withheld his professional connections to Winchard on his UNC resum
